Rep. Bridenstine Awards Jeremy Nikel with Veteran in the Spotlight Award
Rep. Jim Bridenstine is proud to award the May Veteran in the Spotlight, a congressional community service award, to Jeremy Nikel, MSW, LCSW. Mr. Nikel is a Tulsa native and graduate of OU who earned his Navy wings of gold in 1996 and would later fly combat and rescue missions in the SH-60B Seahawk during the Kosovo War and be awarded the Air Medal. After serving honorably for 10 years, then LCDR Nikel purposed to raise his family and later pursue graduate education at OU-Tulsa where he earned his Master of Social Work.
Both on and off the field Jeremy Nikel is a committed professional and an outspoken proponent for Veterans: by day he works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the VA’s Substance Use Disorder Program; by night he is the President of Coffee Bunker, Tulsa’s unique and custom non-profit program that offers a safe and inviting environment to all Veterans where they can share their victories, tragedies, and lives with fellow Veterans. Coffee Bunker is an affiliate of Serving Our Servicemembers, a 501 c3 organization.
Jeremy Nikel is a proven war hero who has translated his own experiences into helping his Veteran brothers and sisters.
