Authority to Bring Benghazi Terrorists to Justice
The Obama Administration actually claims that they do not have the authority to target the attackers and groups responsible. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) introduced a bill this week that would authorize the President of the United States to use all necessary and appropriate force to hold accountable those individuals and organizations responsible for the terrorist attack.î I am an original cosponsor of that legislation.
General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the House Armed Services Committee, of which I am a member, that the U.S. military had not pursued the attackers because the military lacks the authority to go after the Benghazi terrorists using all necessary means.
HR 4599 gives the President authority to use military force to execute his Constitutional responsibilities and target the terrorists who attacked and killed Americans in Libya.
